[ The feed opens on... electronic-store-type sounds. Crowds and Muzak, basically. Apparently Nanako doesn't realize the device is on as it's hanging from a strap around her wrist, as she doesn't say anything immediately. We can, however, just barely hear a conversation going on in the next aisle over. ]

Excuse me, sir, could you get that down for me? I think it's the model I want, but I can't quite see...

A REFRIGERATOR?! Who put that on the top shelf?! Sorry, lady, I'm gonna have to get the forklift. It'll just be a second.

[ Nanako, apparently unable to decide what kind of toaster she wants, picks up the device finally and notices it's already on. How convenient! ]

Oh, hey. ... This sounds kinda stupid, but I'm stuck on whether to get the exact same toaster we had or one of those fancy ones that does bagels and stuff. I mean, we don't eat bagels all that often, but maybe we would if they would fit in the toaster. You think?

[Deep questions, she's asking them. Meanwhile, there's some sounds of a forklift and conversation in the background, but you can't quite hear it over Nanako until... ]

Oops--

[ There's a loud crash, and then the feed goes silent. ]

[ooc: The button may have been pushed by an NPC, but let it be known that this was all Syaoran's fault. Nanako won't be responding, needless to say. Unless you count bleeding as a response. ]

How I wonder what you... unlocks?
Given to me, I don't know why,
By... a strange man in the sky?

... Yeah, don't worry, I'm not quitting my day job.

Even thinking about pushing the button makes me kinda sick. Been there, done that.

those who can't...
Today, I logged onto the network and read some asinine posts that were relevant to my interests, but also some from people whose lives suck more than mine.

A few days ago, I really wanted some ice cream but the vendors weren't taking money and I didn't want to do anything crazy for it. The next day they were back to normal, but I was in the mood for gyoza instead.

Nena, Nagi and I were the Breakers. But I think I was the only one with a huge problem with that.

By the second day, I picked what I thought was a pretty simple strategy. Just get Nena and Nagi voted out as quickly as possible and then... I don't know. By then you guys'd probably figure out I was a Breaker, anyway, and vote me out in case I lost my nerve and couldn't vote for myself.

I don't know what went wrong. Nagi wasn't supposed to die. I didn't use my Breaker vote for him, so unless he voted for himself... but I don't see why he would, after the conversation we had. If my vote doesn't matter, I don't know who's going to die tonight but I have a feeling it won't be me but... just vote for me. If that doesn't work, nothing will.

Wow, it's kinda hard to believe that I've been here basically a year. I don't remember when it was I got here, but it was either late August or early September. Pretty much when school was just supposed to be starting up again. And here it is, another year. Does time spent here even really count, though? I've seen a lot of people asking about that on the network, but no definite answers. I guess there aren't any.

I don't want to turn 30 here.

So, it's September - can I officially say that I failed at my New Year's resolutions this year? Yeah, I think I can.

You know, it never even occurred to me until today that there was nowhere to ski in this city, even in the winter - until now, I mean. I'm not really all that big on skiing in particular, but I just found it weird that there's this whole sport that you just couldn't do here. Maybe you still can't. Has anyone tried yet?

Someone should. I call not-it.

I'm glad I live with a lot of people, here. Back at home I lived alone, and it got kinda quiet and lonely especially around the holidays. This is nice, though; I could get used to it. In fact, I'm a little worried about how I'm going to adjust when I go home.

... Assuming I do. It's been, what, nearly a year now? Wow. And I haven't gone home even once.

Yes, finally! [ Nanako is sitting in the middle of her room with clothes strewn about the floor, holding up a pair of panties in one hand and a marker in the other ] I finally finished labeling all my clothes!

[ Just sits and looks pleased with herself for a few moments, but that elation slowly degrades to disappointment as she realizes that she has to put them away again now.

... And then looks overwhelmed as she realizes she has yet to get to the books or games or bedclothes or the car or... or... ]

... I think I have too much stuff.
stfu!
Kero-chan?

[ Some purring and a thump. ] ... Where'd you get that? [ sheets rustle ] Hey, well don't eat it on my bed!

[ kick, thump. Mewww! ]

You miss Sakura, huh? [ a lengthy pause and a groan, and then the rustling of sheets ] Might as well get up...

[there's relative silence at this point, for a few moments, except for a door opening. Then there's a shocked exclamation coming from further away, like down the hall.

Footsteps run back to the device and pick it up, and then run with it. ]

[/audio]

[ The next thing the network sees is a photograph of an extremely disturbed kitchen. It looks like something large and carnivorous raided the place, but in the middle of the mess is a white, fluffy kitty holding what is probably the last tiny scrap of meat in her mouth and looking pleased both with the food and with having her picture taken. ]

hmm?
Yeah, so that nightmare curse was pretty bad. I wasn't affected, but Konata was and she hasn't been feeling that great. A lot of kids have been absent from school the past couple days, too, so it's not really just business as usual. I hope everyone gets better over the weekend.

That's what really gets me, though - not saying that the curses are any better when they don't leave any after-effects, but it bugs me when it disrupts what should be normal life. It's bad enough to have to take days off or whatever because of curse effects on that day, but when you can't even enjoy and make use of the time between curses without constantly being reminded... sucks.

Maybe I shouldn't talk because it's not like I'm the one who's sick, but... still. This isn't the first time curse stuff has carried over into normal life, it's just the most obvious one I can think of.

Also: did I miss everyone going out somewhere or something and they forgot to tell me? Seriously, I haven't seen a single person since I got home from work, and that never happens. Usually there's someone here and awake, almost no matter what time it is. Where'd everyone go?

beer ftw!
[ The device comes on as it's being set on the computer desk, next to her keyboard. ]

Ahhh, that's finally over! [ streeeeeetch! Nanako has clearly just come out of the shower, as there's a towel over her shoulders and her hair is down and somewhat damp. Also, it's a good thing the camera can only see her from the waist up, as she's secretly not wearing pants. ]

We really need more curses like that, and fewer like the last one. That was way too much like work. I guess that was kinda the point, huh? [ settles down in the chair, flipping her hair out of the way. ] But playing dodgeball all day was really refreshing. I should get out and do more stuff like that.

[ typey-typey on the keyboard, and of course the obligatory over-dramatic pressing of the "Enter" key. ] Now to go crazy until Monday~!

I'm really glad the City doesn't have a big homeless problem. People sleeping on park benches because they just got here don't really count.

Anyway, I'm home! Sorry I stayed out so late! Hope nobody waited up.

I think I'll call in sick to work today, since I wasn't around to hear my alarm go off. And I need a shower.

[ooc: Woke up VERY late from a refreshing snooze on a park bench, courtesy of a certain possessing person~ o/ (fjdkafl I hope it's okay. I think I had permission?) She's got a couple of cuts and bruises, doesn't remember breaking into that auto parts store, and is more freaked-out than she's letting on.]

Hey, everyone. I know it's late and you guys need to get to bed, but I'd like to take a moment of your time to discuss a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.

cut for cuteness - not an IC cut )

These innocent herbivores have for eons peacefully roamed the the tropics, unhindered by human activity. However, with the current rise in human development and deforestation, this rare species of manatee has been pushed back to areas of the globe that cannot possibly support their population. As a result, each year at least... um, a couple of these beautiful creatures crashes into a landlocked area and gets mistaken for a German dirigible, or washes up on a northern beach and gets mistaken for a whale, or terrorizes Tokyo and gets mistaken for a giant monster. But we all know the truth, people - it's time to get out of denial and wake up to the atrocities our own carelessness has caused!

image - not an IC cut )

That's why Habitats for Huge Manatees needs all the support it can get. Anything you can do will help, whether it's fund-raising, canvassing, or helping global warming create more ocean for these manatees to graze in. We're heading in the right direction, but we just need a little push and every little bit helps!

Thank you, City.

[ Someone is standing on top of a building with a rocket launcher. ]

You guys are lucky I dropped the sniper rifle I found - I thought I'd go easy on you since it's the first time for some of you.

Who wants a rocket, City?
why we can't have nice things
I dreamed last night that I got a phone call from Konata, saying that she can't come to the City because she has Spring Sickness. I told her that was no excuse and hung up on her.

So, I guess if I seem annoyed today, that's why. It really is no excuse.

But I did finish getting the apartment all clean! Does anybody here make wigs? That would be an awesome thing to do with all this hair. Although, I guess it might be more trouble than it's worth, since I didn't really sort it by color or anything, just kinda swept it up and stuffed it into bags.

... It's probably dirty, too. Eugh, nevermind.

Sorry I haven't posted lately; I had Spring Sickness the Plague, but I got better. I know, like that excuses me from my general lack of posting. I've been going outside, okay, and it's been taking up a lot of my time. It's pretty out there, but kinda scary - I take it that's where hair monsters and their mothers live? Yeah, that sucked. Let's not do it again, guys.

So, what has everyone else been up to?

[ The device comes on in her pocket to the sound of birds chirping and twigs breaking underfoot. Someone's taking a walk in the forest.

Suddenly she stops, and then there's the sound of her kneeling. ]

... Huh.

[ Is quiet for a few moments, but then takes the device out without noticing that it's recording and takes some pictures (if you ignore that guy's head), which get automatically uploaded. ]

Too bad I didn't bring any rope or anything. It'd be sorta cool to see what's down there.

I haven't been keeping my New Year's resolutions, have I? I don't know; I was thinking it would help if I knew what I was doing. I'm not really social on the network because there's all this other stuff I do on the computer which is way more interesting than talking about my day. Which was probably boring. Unless there was a curse, in which case I'd rather not discuss it?

Last curse was pretty cool, though, speaking of which. I wasn't any more interesting, but it was okay being in high school again. I had fun at the dance, too - didn't go with anyone, but I did get to dance with someone.

Anyway, what do people here do to meet other people? Preferably something in real life, because I get completely distracted the second I hop online, it seems.

[ooc: Posted after midnight but will hopefully still show as being posted in March, so feel free to poke! /o/ Also, feel free to have been the person she danced with, if you were at the dance and went stag. |D;; ]

Odd, I thought we did this last month.

Really, Deities, are your toys that much more fun when they're broken?

[ooc: Taking the genre switch a step further and switching my characters with each other, so Nanako is a creepy witch for the weekend. >D As usual, I just made this decision ten minutes ago and after I had already started commenting around with her. Fail, me. ]
